I went here from 2021-2024 at multiple different times and levels: WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Levels offered:
PHP & IOP (at one point they had PHP+ which is longer hours but idk if its still a level)

Food:
-VERY GROSS
-Didn’t honor genuine dislikes

• Supplement if you do not finish
• meal time was an hour but I believe it changed to 30 min
• if you refused supplement for a long period of time you would be referred or kicked out
• Also normally late
• Often there was no talking at the table so it was unhelpful and more stressful!

Groups:

• groups often didn’t happen or were the same
• often triggering
• sometimes if they didn’t have a plan we just walked around the downtown
• Often late cause of lack of staff or planning

Doctors/Medical

• Nurse does vitals once a week and isn’t very helpful with any issues
• Sends patients to the local ER, they don’t handle MH or Ed’s so it was normally unhelpful
• Psychiatrist is horrible!
• Weighed in clothes so it isn’t accurate

Therapists:

• Therapists have changed over the years but were not very great at the time
• They were not very supportive
• No check ins or additional support
• Often the therapy was just work sheets or videos
• they hire super unprofessional and untrained therapists
• example: 1 new therapist yelled at all of us, calling us gaslighters and walked out on the job, another one told us about her weight loss surgery, therapists made comments on patients weight gain when coming back from inpatient/res etc.

Dietitians:

• again horrible
• they had one okay one Keely but again not very supportive
• They main/head one is virtual and horrible
• not supportive, no advice or support etc
• recovery record app is used

Other Staff:

• Diet Tech (college students) make the food and that is about it
• No check ins or alot of care/attention
• Clincal directors and head of programs were so rude and unprofessional, many have been fired for various reasons but it is super messy
• They are always understaffed and everything is unorganized
• there is no support staff so there is a lot of alone time which isn’t great
• in between groups you just sit there so a lot can happen…

Ages:

• All ages but depends on when you are a patient
• Ive been there with 13-50 year olds (typically summer is teens and school time has college students and local adults)
• Mostly females but occasionally a mix

Other:

• Multiple times staff never showed up and the building was unlocked so minor patients were alone in there
• Not helpful with referrals to other programs or levels of care
• Have a habit of kicking out patients or not helping with step up or downs
• Not helpful if a patient doesn’t recovery immediately
• Don’t really care how you are mentally just want you to “graduate”
• Often triggering with no staff caring
• For patients in school they didn’t let us do school work often
• So much more but not great

I would not recommend this program and only went because it is literally the only program in the San Luis Obispo Area!! Please travel elsewhere if possible for better and more competent care. My experience has been very common with other patients of all ages! I hope you all get the care you deserve and need 🙂
