Do you know why they closed down?
They were bought by Refresh Mental Healh (which is connected to United Healthcare somehow). Refresh closed all of their ED programs.
I have had nothing but positive experiences with the outpatient providers at Evolve!
Their PHP/IOP program although disorganized (Due to COVID) used to be extremely beneficial. The staff was very helpful and I managed to learn alot. This last time in PHP/IOP, however was a different story. At first the programming was helpful and although not always running the smoothest ALL the staff including the higher ups/program manager were extremely helpful. After the program manager left and changes started happening due to the way higher ups in charge. PHP/IOP started to get very toxic and shifted from mainly patient and their recovery focused to rushing you through and leaving you on your own. Many of the therapists and all the dietitians are still absolutely amazing but the lead program manager and higher ups have made it utterly impossible for recovery to happen in that setting by limiting and threatening to fire and or get staffs licenses removed. Even though the staff wasn’t doing anything wrong other than supporting their clients like all providers should. Many clients saw the problem but when their concerns were brought up they were silenced by the program manager. Over all it went from a helpful program to a restricted and unhelpful program. Not only hurtful for clients but also for their staff. You can see their want to help but their fear of retaliation from the higher ups if they “do too much”.
The whole billing situation is utterly confusing as well and is not very well or closely looked over as there seemingly always lots of mistakes with bills I’ve received. Which is annoying but they are human so I understand.
I’d 100% recommend outpatient services! But not PHP/IOP unless something changes in a positive direction.
The therapists and dieticians at Evolve genuinely want to help their clients find recovery.
Management and the parent company Refresh finds every opportunity to stand in the way of good client care. Management is constantly bouncing clients from one provider to another (and stating that the clients “should be used to it” with zero regard for the patient’s care or wishes. There is extreme favoritism and massive and unprofessional egos among executive and clinical management. There is very little actual data and research integrated into curriculum for the teen programs–many of the learning modules are simply printed off of “therapistaid.com”, yet they promote themselves as industry leaders and specialists. There is rampant misinformation and deceit, from providers lying about their credentials to their crisis services and availability. It is neither safe nor effective to seek care at Evolve.
The founder of this place is the Vice President of Eating Disorder Operations at Refresh Mental Health, which was the mother company that was managing The Body Image Therapy Center (or The Eating and Body Image Therapy Center). This center was shut down in Jun 2022 but you can find the reviews at https://edtreatmentreview.com/thebodyimagecenter/.
The overall management of this mother company was very dismissive and toxic, you can actually tell from how they respond on Google review that they pride themselves even when someone’s saying there’s something wrong with them (and they responded in the same way at the Body Image Therapy Center Google reviews which are not available now as the center’s closed). They just want to do their business and take your money but not care for clients or their recovery whatsoever. If you’re looking into this place, I’d strongly suggest you to look for other places that are not under this mother company.
