• When were you there?
2019-2021.
• What level(s) of care did you do (e.g., inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP)? Outpatient
• Does it treat both males and females? If so, is treatment separate or combined? they treat everyone, each individual is seperate, it’s like a doctors office not a group thing.
• If applicable: Do they support the gender identities of transgender and nonbinary people? yes, they helped me get my binder and got me on birth control to help my gender dysphoria, while also hiding it from my parent’s since I wasn’t out yet. Def appreciated that a lot, no other doctor would have done that for me.
• How often do you see a medical doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist (therapist), nutritionist, nurse, etc? once a week at first, reduced as time goes on.
• What sort of therapies are used (e.g., DBT, CBT, EMDR, ACT, exposure therapy, somatic experiencing, etc.)? there’s an ED therapist on hand but you can get your own separately too. Idk what type, probably dbt.
They were not vegetarian friendly, I found the weight gain very hard, it was a fast rate of gain and they want teens to continue to gain even once reaching a set goal weight. I was pushed to a much higher weight than was necessary in my opinion, made to gain back everything I lost and an additional [number redacted] pounds on top of that. Overall they weren’t the worst, my ED was just very triggered by the agressive weight gain to the point where I attempted su*****, so I don’t have the best memories of it.
Really grateful for the help I received whilst inpatient at Beaumont Hospital.
The nurses were so kind and understanding, the dieticians were so phenomenal. They really understood the difficulties of refeeding and did their best to make it as comfortable as possible. The dieticians ensured meals were as low volume as possible to ease discomfort, they listened to your preferences and challenged you within reason. Definitely recommend.
