I had the strangest experience with this place. Back in 2022, I was stepping down from a PHP, and looking for an IOP. All of my other options had fallen through, and this place was my last hope. Starting a few weeks before discharge, I was calling Aurora every day, leaving messages. No one ever picked up the phone or called me back. The website made it seem like this was a real programme and up and running, and I had no reason to believe otherwise (apart from not being able to get through to a real person). Once I was back home, I decided to go to Aurora in person to see what was going on, and hopefully admit to the programme. I looked up the address online and went. In the lobby of the building, I told the doorman where I was going, and he waved me through. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer (this was during business hours on a weekday). I was confused, and thought maybe it was like many healthcare offices, where you just walk in (like my doctor’s office), so I tried the door and it was open. I walked in, but there was no one there. I looked around, and the place looked like someone was in the process of moving. I stood for a few seconds trying to figure out what was going on, and decided to leave a note, when someone came through the door. Apparently, it was the owner, maybe the director of the program, and a man with her. She was shocked to see me and treated me like an intruder of a private residence (even though it was listed as the business address of an ED treatment centre). Once I realised this, I stepped into the corridor and tried to explain, but could tell she was too afraid and upset to listen to me. I pleaded because I was still desperately hoping to get help, but she dismissed me and told me to leave and that this place was not for me. Ever since, I’ve wondered whether Aurora was even a legitimate business. It was a horrifying experience, and to this day, I’ve no idea what was going on with that place.
That’s so creepy. I’m so sorry that happened to you
