I have been to IOP at Chrysalis 3 times, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer them. I will say that they do not offer housing, so you need to be in Wilmington or willing to commute. When I was in IOP there were a couple people who would commute 1 hour/1.5 hours each way to program. When I was in IOP it was every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 3pm-7:00pm. However, I believe it has changed and is now Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 3pm-7pm. I was there in Fall 2019-Spring 2020, Winter 2020, and Fall 2021.
3:00-3:45: Check-in, vitals, weigh in
3:45-4:30: First Group
4:30-4:45: Break
4:45-5:30: Second Group
5:30-5:45: Break
5:45-6:00: Portioning and check in
6:00-6:30: Dinner
6:30-7:00: Post-Meal Process / Check Out
Groups include: Nutrition, Healing Words (writing group), Process Group, SOAR (staying open about recovery), etc.
There are two tables during dinner – once staff member at each table to support clients. You are required to see a therapist and dietician at Chrysalis at least once per week while in IOP. Overall, I would recommend Chrysalis’ IOP.
Yes! They do provide dinner. However, I believe one meal per week you bring.
They do accommodate veganism I believe! As long as you’re meeting your exchanges/portions they allow it.
I really liked SOAR because it was facilitated like a process group. Each person would have an opportunity to share and get feedback from the facilitator and other clients.
They are incredibly trauma informed which I appreciated as well. They offered yoga a few times while I was there, but i believe it’s held once a week now!
I would definitely say that because it’s the only HLOC for EDs within 200 miles….clients are often struggling more than a typical IOP environment. Quite a few people ended up getting stepped up because of how much they were struggling. BUT…there are always a few people that are motivated and don’t want to stay in the cycle of treatment.
Thank you again for your review! It took a while for me to complete the admissions process, but I’ve completed 2 weeks of IOP so far. As someone with a significant treatment wrap sheet with many traumatic experiences that include this business prior to their offering IOP, I AM PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
I’ll post a review as I near the end of my program.

How did they handle meals? I’ve been told they provide the food? I’ve also been told they can manage the dietary needs of vegan clients.
What kind of content did they cover in SOAR?
Did they integrate trauma-informed practices or somatic therapies? How often did they offer yoga?
In your experience, were the peers motivated for recovery and a positive influence?

Hope this helps!
