Eating Disorder Medical Specialists of Cleveland (EDMSC) is located in Beachwood, Ohio. It offers longterm outpatient treatment, referrals, and medical monitoring for children, adolescents, and adults ages 5-45 with eating disorders.
EDMSC also coordinates inpatient medical stabilization for those in need of short-term hospitalization. This can include referrals for medical stabilization for patients to Hillcrest Hospital (for those under age 22), or Cleveland Clinic Main Campus (for older patients).

I was a patient here for a couple of years, and happy to give a review. It’s a small clinic run by one doctor with extensive experience in the treatment of EDs (she worked at the Cleveland Clinic for a long time, and also works or worked with ERC Ohio). This is purely for medical, and unfortunately she recently switched to a concierge model and no longer accepts insurance but that allows her to be more thorough. Appointments will include the typical things: weights, vitals, EKGs, prescriptions, 24 hour intake recalls, care coordination. She will send you out for labs or to the ER, if necessary, and also sees siblings of her patients for prevention’s sake. She is HAES-informed and knows, better than anyone I’ve seen, that weight is not indicative of medical severity. She is LGBTQIA friendly and respectful of patients’ pronouns.
In my time as her patient I found her to be very helpful. She’s kind but incredibly tough, knows her stuff, and will push you, which leads some patients not to particularly like her. She is also big on family involvement, even for adults. She has (or at least, had) admitting privileges on the peds floor at Hillcrest Hospital nearby (up to age 23 I believe), and can send adults to the Cleveland Clinic main campus, for med stabilization although for adults there is no real protocol and she has no involvement in your care once admitted. She also can do NG feedings on an outpatient basis if needed (usually for adolescents).
She is one of the only medical docs in the country with her level of experience and expertise who sees adolescents AND adults, and she helped me a lot. She will spend a lot of time with you, and appointment follow ups can be as often as 1x/week to 1x/year depending on your medical status. It’s evident she cares deeply about her patients as humans, and not just as diagnoses.
Thank you so so much for sharing this! Extremely helpful (and hopeful!). I wish there were more options like this in our country. I’ll update the tags too on this review page to reflect this info.
