Integrative Life Center (ILC) is a privately owned trauma, mental health, addiction and eating disorder treatment center in Nashville, Tennessee with the mission of healing trauma at the root of maladaptive behaviors. ILC offers gender-specific adult residential treatment programs.
In May 2023 ILC opened their first eating disorder-specific program, a new Women’s Residential Eating Disorder’s Program in called Cato House. Cato House is a trauma-focused residential eating disorder treatment program in Nashville for women struggling with primary eating disorders, and any co-occurring trauma, substance use disorders, and related mental health issues.

Does anyone have reviews about current strength of ED services?
Does anyone have any recent reviews?
Any recent reviews for residential?
Does anyone know if you can incorporate weight training (within reason, obviously) a few times a week during free time? What is there to do during non-programming hours and how free is that time vs you are stuck in one location with little to do? What is staff oversight like outside programming? What is the food like with the catering and especially with other residents cooking dinners? Is it *** whole foods type meals, or a lot of *** boxed things?

I just wanted to update that a lot of changes seem to be happening with ILC residential. Cato House closed (after only existing for a short time) and now all of the women’s residential is combined again. They also swapped the men’s and women’s campuses for some reason. There’s an ED “track” but I’m not sure how strong it is at this point. As of a couple of weeks ago, there was only one client on it. I will say that admissions has been very patient and helpful with me as I’ve been talking to them and debating on going for a while.
Thank you for sharing, L! I had heard Cato House had closed recently. That’s interesting that they swapped the men’s and women’s campuses. I hope that the ED “track” grows and works out! When I was there, they were starting to try out an pre and post meal support group for clients with ED’s, but I remember it only lasting for a week or 2. But I think that was because it’s wasn’t required, but “strongly encouraged”. I will say that the dietician who was there when I was in summer 2022 (M) is really great! She really knows her stuff, not to mention she’s just a super sweet and caring person! I hope it all works out for you! Happy to answer any questions you have! 🙂
Did you decide to go? I have been vacillating for over a month and *** in admissions has also been so patient with me. If you did, would you be willing to share your experience?

No, I decided that they probably didn’t have enough ED support. I am guessing I had the same person in admissions. She was extremely kind and patient with me too.
*this is based on ILC’s main program, not their newly opened ED house (Cato House)*
Medical doctor: you have a physical within your first week in res, but beyond that, it’s just as needed
Psychiatrist: once a week
Therapist: 2x/week. When I was there, there were some interns from Lipscomb University’s masters in counseling program at ILC, so I got to have an extra session a week with an intern
Dietician: if you come in with an ED diagnosis, you have at least an assessment with the dietician (who, before ILC, worked in different ED treatment centers and she’s great). Otherwise, people don’t usually meet with a dietician
Describe the average day:
The day is really made up of groups all day with a break for lunch, follow up more groups in the afternoon. Groups were done by 4 or 5 pm. Sometimes there was an evening group after dinner as well, but that wasn’t everyday.
Hi! I have a question, if you’re able to answer. I hope this isn’t rude, I dont mean to be rude, but was the facility dirty? I was reading google reviews for ILC, and there was one review that claimed that the house wasn’t cleaned well, and they had attached pictures of the floor that had dirt and grime all over it, and I’m interested in this program, but am a little concerned about going there if the house is dirty, as I struggle with some serious medical issues after being at a different ED treatment center that was shut down due to having black mold, which led me to develop Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, chronic migraines, and Fibromyalgia which all started when I was at the facility that had black mold, which makes me really nervous to go to any other facility that has an unclean environment. Was it cleaned well while you were there? Or was the house often dirty? If you’re comfortable with answering. Sorry, I hope that’s not a rude question.
Hi Elizabeth, I am not Lexi but I have been to many facilities including ILC and have also been to a center with black mold which made me develop chronic illnesses. I am happy to give some feedback on ILC vs other programs for cleanliness and liklihood of mold. Are you looking specifically at ED primary or trauma primary?
Trauma primary. Thank you!
I was at ILC 2020, 2021. I personally did not think it was dirty but it is also not super clean. The clients are expected to help clean so I found that it was clean but not hospital standard clean. It is a house in the middle of nowhere tennessee. So it is rustic. I would not be suprised if there is mold. I am not saying there is toxic mold but with the environment they are in and the age of the houses I would guess that someone with MCAS or other chronic illness might not be as comfortable there.
I am not sure about River oaks in terms of cleanliness but they have a good trauma program. Also, Galen hope mental health track might be good. I am assuming that is a clean environment (anyone correct me if I am wrong).
Thank you! I have been to River Oaks, and didn’t have a good experience there, and I can’t afford Galen Hope, but thanks for taking the time to answer my questions about ILC!
Hi Elizabeth! I personally found the house to be a clean environment when I was there and never had any issues! However, I was there back in 2022, and depending on when the review was posted, things could be different now. I honestly don’t know how things look now in 2025, I’m sorry!
Thank you!
Do you know if the addition (? delineation?) of the Cato house has amped up the ED-focused services available at ILC?
I have recently inquired about this place. The Eating disorder house is now called the Cato House… administration can you adjust this or add it .
Thank you KC! This page has been updated to reflect the change.
I would also be interested in a more recent review of someone who has been a patient here for residential. Thank you!
Hi s – I was at ILC from July – August 2022, so last summer. I know that’s not super new, but I’ll post a review in the next few days, if that helps at all!
That would be amazing Lexi! That’s definitely recent!
Okay, Rachel! Great! I’ll work on it and post it by the end of the week!
If I were you. I would not come here at all. It wouldn’t even cross my mind. They care only about money. They will trick you to believing you need to extend and you’ll see your peeers literally get WORSE. They promise clients so much stuff at admissions to take yalls money and half the things they tell you they are going to give you, they will not.
Your therapist sessions will be canceled or rescheduled numerous times. Clients at PHP sneak out and hook up with the men and go out to bars. They blend mental health with addiction eating disorders, s_ic_de so that is uncomfortable and we don’t get the best treatment needed. There are RAs that have no medical or health care experience and you can tell by just asking a simple question.
They told me theft happens and no one came out to support us, call police , anything. They try to keep things on the hush hush because they are doing so many things illegally. They have violated HIPPA in group sessions and with family members.
Has anyone been to this treatment center recently that could give a current review? Thank you

Could you answer the questions asked in the template?
IOP/PHP has its own location in Music Row and they have a nice transitional living house. The women’s house is max 8 clients
Describe the average day: The thing about ILC is it is not a primary ED program so you have to be VERY motivated to recover from an ED here. ED usually cannot be primary because the accountability is on you.
Please lmk if you have questions!
Are massages and acupuncture included?
Why no more sweat lounge?
Can you access your laptop daily?
Outings?
Private rooms?
When I was there it was peak covid so we didn’t have massages or acupuncture.
I am not sure if they were taking a break from Sweat Lodges or if it was too much of a health risk.
Yes, you can access your laptop daily.
Again, we were there during covid. The grounds were beautiful so we spent a lot of time outside. We went on a few outings but not regularly.
Every room has 2 beds so you are not guaranteed a private room.
It is not a fancy place, go here if you want intense trauma treatment but it isn’t going to be as bougie as some of the other options.
My questions are for PHP/IOP + housing.
Could you bring in outside food?
Could you request specific foods to be purchased?
Could you have coffee?
Were beverages allowed outside of meals and snacks?
Could you have stevia and diet drinks?
Do you think a vegan could be accommodated?
Did they offer yoga?
Could you take walks independently?
Did they have a gym?
Was there an additional fee for housing?
Could you have a car at transitional for use after programming hours? If so, what was curfew?
Because they also treat substance abuse, did they require random drug testing if that wasn’t your issue?
Thank you for your review!
Could you bring in outside food?
Yes, you are expected to buy your own food and cook your own food. In php they provide lunch but thats all. It is very independent in terms of food since it is not ED treatment
Could you request specific foods to be purchased?
You buy your own
Could you have coffee?
As much as you want:)
Were beverages allowed outside of meals and snacks?
Yes, also its important to note that meals and snacks are not structured, people just eat when they want.
Could you have stevia and diet drinks?
Yes, but the dietician might encourage you not to if its part of ED
Do you think a vegan could be accommodated?
Yes I have seen people be Vegan
Did they offer yoga?
Yes
Could you take walks independently?
Yes, when I was there you just sign in and out when you leave the house
Did they have a gym?
No its a small treatment center. You could go to a local one if its in your movement plan.
Was there an additional fee for housing?
Yes, I don’t remember specifics but it is not cheap.
Could you have a car at transitional for use after programming hours? If so, what was curfew?
You can definitely have a car! I would actually encourage you to if possible. There is a curfew (probably different now than when I was in php in 2020 (covid).
Because they also treat substance abuse, did they require random drug testing if that wasn’t your issue?
Yes there are random drug tests for everyone and a zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol use.
Thank you! This was quite helpful.
No problem! Let me know if you have more questions!
If anyone is interested I can do a full review from 2020-2021.
