C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and University Hospital are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mott Children’s Michigan Medicine Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program offers medical stabilization, inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient for children, adolescents, and young adults ages 8-24. For medical stabilization, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital admits eating disorder patients through aged 24 years though most are younger than 21 years.
University Hospital provides medical stabilization for adults with eating disorders aged 25 years and older. Adult patients at University Hospital are treated under a similar protocol to adults at Mott Children’s, modified for the adult age population.
Admission is usually through the Emergency Department/ER or by referral from primary care provider or outpatient doctor.

I’m not sure if this has changed, because the last time I contacted this program was in 2016. But as far as I know, they do not offer an inpatient setting for adults, unless it’s a medical admission of course. Mott’s is only a PHP, they don’t have an Ed unit and won’t admit you solely for an ed to their psych unit, unless you have other mental health concerns. I was referred here via Huron Oaks, when they still had their adult program, because they thought they had an EDU and was told they didn’t offer any higher level of care except for the PHP.
any reviews on what an admission to Mott’s might look like? Especially in terms of medical stabilization?
They practice FBT. They encourage family involvement. I was not able to do this program due to this, but I have heard mixed reviews.
